Previous Tuition Fees

Tuition Fees (2024/2025 Entry)

Tuition fees for entry at the University of Aberdeen, for students from England, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland and Wales are £9,250 per annum.

What does this mean?

  • £9250 is payable for each year of study.
  • Most students who register for a 4 year honours programme and who progress from Level 1 – 4 in the minimum time will therefore pay £37,000, but students who are required to repeat a year of study will also be required to pay fees for the repeat year.
  • Most students who register for a 5 year honours programme and who progress from Level 1 – 5 in the minimum time will pay £46,250 but students who are required to repeat a year of study will also be required to pay fees for the repeat year.

There are no up-front tuition fees, as you can apply for a government loan to cover the fees. The loan is not repayable until after graduation. (See our section on Loans and Grants below for information on Tuition fee loans).

Republic of Ireland

Irish nationals who are living in the Republic of Ireland, who have been ordinarily resident in the Common Travel Area of the UK, Islands or Ireland for three years prior to the relevant date (for autumn start courses this is 1 August) who are studying in Scotland will be eligible to apply for a tuition fee loan from the Student Awards Agency Scotland (SAAS).

Please note: there are different provisions in place from SAAS for Irish nationals living in the UK before 31 Dec 2020, who have been ordinarily resident in the UK for three years prior to the relevant date (for autumn start courses this is 1 August) who apply to study in Scotland.

Repayment of Tuition Fee Loan and Living Cost/Maintenance Loans

You don't have to start to re-pay your tuition fee loan and living cost/maintenance loan back until the April after you graduate, and only once you earn over the threshold salary level. Please review these levels above with your relevant funding body.
