October Open Day Widening Access Travel Bursary

The Access and Articulation Team are pleased to be offering a travel and accommodation bursary for students attending the Open Day on Saturday 7th October 2023 to support students who meet the following criteria.

Bursary Amounts

Those living in the Island Communities and Northern and Western Isles, requiring plane or ferry journeys, can claim up to £150.
Those living in other Scottish postcodes can claim up to £100. (Those living in Aberdeen City are excluded)

The exact amount paid will be based upon receipts provided by you and up to the maximum you are eligible for. If your costs are over this limit, a flat fee of the maximum amount will be paid. All receipts must be provided with a claim form.

The claim form will be emailed out to successful applicants and must be presented at the Open Day to claim the bursary. Receipts can be presented on the day or after the event if they are needed for travel i.e. train tickets.

Travelling by car or public transport

Fuel claims will be calculated at a return journey with your home postcode and the university postcode, and paid at 45p per mile, up to the maximum you are eligible for.

If travelling by public transport, only standard class fares will be reimbursed.

Deadline and awarding of bursaries.

The form for applications will close on Thursday 5th October 2023. All applications will be reviewed, and you will be notified of the outcome of your application. We expect a high demand and there is a maximum number of bursaries available, and each application will be looked at. It may not be possible to award every applicant a bursary.
