Entry Requirements

The information below is provided as a guide only and does not guarantee entry to the University of Aberdeen. For information relating to your degree please check the online prospectus for specific requirements.

Undergraduate

Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC)

Law, Arts & Social Sciences: Higher Secondary School Certificate (science or arts version): an average of 75% or better. For degrees involving Accountancy, Economics or Finance, a mark of 75% in Mathematics is needed.  We also require 75% (HSSC) English.

Science: A minimum average grade of 75% or more, including 75% or more in two science or Mathematics subjects.  We also require 75% (HSSC) English.

Engineering: A minimum average grade of 75% or more, including 75% or more in two science or Mathematics subjects (one science must be Physics.  Chemistry also required for Chemical and Petroleum Engineering).   We also require 75% (HSSC) English.

Medicine: GCE A-levels, International Baccalaureate or Scottish Highers required.

 

Students who are not eligible to apply for direct entry to Year 1 can apply for our Foundation Course which is offered on campus in our International Study Centre.

 

Postgraduate: Requirements may vary according to recognition of University and scoring system used. Typically, students will need to complete a 4 year Bachelors Degree to be considered for PG study. A GPA of 3.2 (around 75% depending on grading scale of institution) from a well ranked institution is considered comparable to a UK 2.1, while a GPA of 2.6 (around 65% depending on grading scale of institution) is considered comparable to a UK 2.2. University of London External degree programmes are also considered for entry.
