Undergraduate entry requirements

Undergraduate academic entry requirements

Students who have achieved at least one “A” and two “Bs” in the West African Senior Secondary School Certificate can apply for direct entry to Year 1 for all programmes except Medicine. Some Programmes also have individual subject requirements. Students who are not eligible to apply for direct entry to Year 1 can apply for our Foundation Course. For more information, see our International Study Centre’s website.

Science: English, Maths and Science OR English and 2 x science subjects.

Law, Arts and Social Sciences: English

Engineering: English, Maths and Physics (Chemistry also required for Chemical and Petroleum Engineering)

Medicine: GCE A-levels, International Baccalaureate or Scottish Highers required.

Postgraduate entry requirements

Postgraduate academic entry requirements

Applicants would normally be expected to hold a Bachelor’s degree from a recognised institution for entry to our postgraduate taught programmes, with the following equivalencies.

2:1 60-70 3.00-4.49 3.5-4.49 5.0-5.99
2:2 50-59 2.5-2.99 2.99-3.49 4.0-4.99

For Business School PGT programmes the minimum entry requirement is an undergraduate degree at UK Honours level (or a degree from a non-UK institution which is judged by the University to be of equivalent worth).
