Please note, this scholarship is only available for Aberdeen campus students.
New undergraduate / PGDE students resident in the USA or Canada who commence their studies at the University of Aberdeen from August or September 2024 will be awarded a £2,000 scholarship for each year of study of their undergraduate / PDGE degree. The scholarship is awarded as a discount from the student’s tuition fees.
Additionally, the University is committed to recognising our North American undergraduate students’ prior achievements and contribution to their community. A further £2,000 scholarship is available by application for the first year of the degree, in recognition of academic attainment, academic achievements delivered under extenuating circumstances, or personal or community-based achievements. The Undergraduate Excellence Scholarship is awarded in addition to the North American Undergraduate / PGDE Scholarship, meaning recipients will receive £4,000 discount from their tuition in their first year of study. The Undergraduate Excellence Scholarship is not available for those undertaking PGDE studies.
Please note: These scholarships are available to students who commence their studies from August or September 2024. This scholarship package will not affect North American students who commenced their studies in 2020/21, 2021/22, 2022/23, 2023/24 whose existing scholarships package will remain unchanged.
Eligibility
For the North American Undergraduate / PGDE Scholarship:
- Must be registered for an undergraduate / PGDE degree to be studied on a full-time basis on campus in Aberdeen
- Must commence their studies in or after August or September 2024
- Must be ordinarily resident in the USA or Canada
- Must be classified as Overseas Fee Status
- Open to all Undergraduate / PGDE Programmes except Medicine and Accelerated LLB
For the additional North American Undergraduate Excellence Scholarship, in addition to the above:
- Must demonstrate high academic attainment, academic achievements delivered under extenuating circumstances, or personal or community-based achievements
- If applying for recognition of high academic attainment, a minimum of an unweighted 3.8 GPA (USA) or 80% / 10 in Grade 12 (Canada) is required in the Fall semester
- Must apply in accordance with the procedure set out below and by the appropriate deadline
Application Procedure
No application is required for the North American Undergraduate / PGDE Scholarship. Eligible students will automatically qualify if they meet the stipulated criteria.
For the North American Undergraduate Excellence Scholarship, eligible students should complete the online application after they have received either a conditional or unconditional offer from the University of Aberdeen and before the deadline of 1 May in the relevant application cycle.
