Title: “Explaining Epistemic Differences in Paradigm Perceptual Cases: Three Accounts Compared”

Abstract: Two people with normal eyesight and cognitive abilities might both see avocados in a market. Both might be able to distinguish them from other different-looking fruits and vegetables. Yet, one might know they are avocados while the other does not. The difference is not the result of one being more skeptical than another, or one as having special defeating information about the lighting or anything of the sort. In fact, it seems one is in a position to know while the other is not, and one is justified in believing the items are avocados while the other is not. What explains such differences? I consider three accounts: a rich content account, a recognitional ability account, and a knowledge of looks account. I raise problems for the first two and defend the third.
