Brice Rea, Matteo Spagnolo, David Green, and Caitlin Cottrill have received pump-priming funding from the University (via the Scottish Funding Council Knowledge Transfer Grant) to undertake market research into the expansion of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) provision within Geography. Initially, this will focus on Continuing Professional Development course opportunities for geography teachers. It is likely to expand to include both generalised and bespoke GIS training for novice to experienced operators, through a mixture of freeware and state-of-the-art software aimed at a range of business, industry and local government users.
