Eastern Promise for Aberdeen as Department of Archaeology and China's IA CASS Sign Research Agreemen

Research ties are formalised between University of Aberdeen's Department of Archaeology and the Institute of Archaeology, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in a research agreement signing ceremony, attended by Professor Keith Dobney.

The Institute of Archaeology, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and University of Aberdeen have signed a formal cooperative research agreement.

The agreement was signed by Wang Wei, Institute Director, and Professor Dominic Houlihan, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Aberdeen, UK, and the signing ceremony was attended by lead researchers from both institutions, including Department of Archaeology's Professor Keith Dobney.

The research agreement details plans for a range of innovative new archaeological research projects, including those on early animal husbandry and domestication, and ancient human dietary reconstruction and palaeopathology in Asia.

The contract also details how expertise in cultural heritage management and new scientific methods will be shared between the two institutions, including the exchange of academic staff and students.

This agreement will formalise existing research ties and will facilitate more extensive scientific collaborations, bringing new horizons to archaeological research in both Aberdeen and China.
