Library staff need your help to maintain an environment conducive to study, especially during times that our libraries are busy.
All our library users are expected to act responsibly and respectfully towards their peers by observing the rules on noise, food consumption and general behaviour.
There are a range of study spaces in our library sites allowing silent, quiet and group study.
Particularly, in the Sir Duncan Rice Library we have the following arrangement:
| Floors 1-3 | Group study |
| Floors 4, 6 and 7 | Quiet study |
| Floor 5 | Silent study |
All floors have large banners reminding users what the expected behaviour is on each floor.
The Taylor and Medical Libraries also divide their space into group, quiet, or silent study.
Additionally, there are Silent Study Rooms on floors 3 to 6 in The Sir Duncan Rice Library, all located on the south side of the building. If you are looking for a smaller space than floor 5 to silently work using your personal electronic device, you can choose any of the Silent Study Rooms on floors 3, 4 and 5. Please note that the Silent Study Room on floor 6 is a strictly silent working environment where electronic devices cannot be used. This is for those who wish to study with no disturbance.
Thank you for your cooperation!
