Dyslexia Awareness Week
2025-10-08

October 6th-12th is Dyslexia Awareness Week. 1 in 10 people in the UK have this condition, which can affect reading, writing and spelling. The theme around this year is ‘Raising the Volume’, which aims to champion the voices of young people, focus on their successes and raise awareness of the challenges dyslexia can pose to education, work and in life. The British Dyslexia Association (BDA) has put together a wealth of resources online, as has the BBC:

The University of Aberdeen’s vision is to be a fully inclusive campus, truly  ‘Open to All.’ These goals are shared by the University’s Neurodiversity Network, who work to dispel myths around the full range of neurodiverse conditions and educate, celebrate and inspire. Find out more about the network on the EDI Webpages.

The Library has a collection of materials on dyslexia which can be accessed in the Neurodiversity Reading List. We also welcome suggestions for purchasing new items: please contact us via library@abdn.ac.uk

All the very best of luck with your studies. Please do ask us any questions: we're here to help.
