DIT will be upgrading staff/college Microsoft Windows computers that are currently running Macromedia’s Flash Player (Flash8) to Adobe’s Flash Player 10 (Flash10)
What is happening?
Starting on Thursday 8th April 2010, DIT will begin to upgrade staff/college Microsoft Windows computers currently running Macromedia’s Flash Player (Flash8) to Adobe’s Flash Player 10 (Flash10). This update has been tested and is already in use with a large number of PCs and will be applied to university computers centrally. DIT will be upgrading PCs running Adobe Flash Player 9 at a later date, but if you require the upgrade sooner please contact the Service Desk who will be able to assist you.
What should you do?
You should not need to do anything, the update will be sent and installed automatically on your PC. If by the 13th April your PC has not received the update, please contact the Service Desk.
Why is this necessary?
As well as security enhancements, many websites now make use of Adobe Flash Player 10’s enhanced features and in order for you to take advantage of this, your PC requires this update. Additionally, in order to ensure that the University has the appropriate software licenses we must upgrade from Macromedia’s Flash Player 8 to Adobe’s successor Flash Player 10.
