Essential maintenance to computing services

Essential maintenance to computing services

Scheduled for Thursday 5 November 07:00-08:00, AND between 08:00 on Saturday 7 and 18:00 Sunday 8 November

What is happening?

Due to essential maintenance there will be a major outage to the computing service on the weekend of the 7 and 8 of November. The service outage will run from 08:00 on Saturday the 7 Nov until 18:00 the following day, Sunday 8 November.

The only services available over this weekend will be e-mail, the University web site, e-journals, Web CT and Library Catalogue. PC classrooms will be operational, although no H drives will be available. All other services such as H drives, shared file store, printing/MFD service and all corporate applications will not be available.

All services provisioned from the Medicine domain at Foresterhill will be unaffected.

In preparation for this maintenance there will also be a short outage on Thursday 5 November, between 07:00 and 08:00 when the central web service, Web CT and the library management system are switched over to their backup service, to ensure that these systems are available over the weekend.

What should you do?

If you intend to work you should be aware that most DIT services such as printing, file storage and most corporate applications will not be available and that you should save any work on a local storage regularly to minimise any work loss during this period.

As H drives will not be available via the PC classrooms students should store any data to USB drives/pens, if possible.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused.
