Efficient research design for diagnostic test development

Title: 'Efficient research design for diagnostic test development'.

Peter is a Clinical Lecturer in Medical Oncology with a research interest in health economics, decision modelling and research design. His clinical practice is based at St James's Institute of Oncology in Leeds.

He is involved in the development of methods for the evaluation of diagnostic tests and personalised medicines in cancer, liver, renal and musculoskeletal diseases as part of the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Diagnostics Evidence Cooperative.

He is also leading work on the clinical or health economic aspects of a number of UK and international clinical trials in cancer, and looking at the use of routinely collected NHS data, drawing on local strengths in informatics, to inform economic evaluation and cost-effectiveness analysis.

The disease area Peter will be focusing on in his talk is mainly breast cancer but he may also mention ovarian cancer, liver diseases and kidney diseases.
