The University of Aberdeen Foundation is delighted to announce the establishment of a new scholarship program for U.S. students to be named in memory of Dr. J. Findlay Walker.

The Findlay Walker Scholarships will provide an exciting opportunity for students from the United States who have been accepted to study full-time at the University of Aberdeen, in any subject, and who demonstrate outstanding academic ability and exceptional talent.

Dr. Findlay Walker graduated MBChB from Aberdeen in 1967 and began his career in general practice in Scotland. He moved to the USA for a career in pharmaceuticals and spent 25 years with Merck, Sharp and Dohme, latterly as senior director of international marketing and then as a vice president at Daiichi-Sankyo. On his retirement in 2010 he and his wife Yvonne moved to Mount Pleasant, SC.

He was a driving force behind the original U.S. University of Aberdeen Development Trust, which this year was renamed the University of Aberdeen Foundation and he remained on the board until his untimely death in September 2013. Findlay was a devoted friend and family man and a dedicated champion of his University.

The University of Aberdeen Foundation is honored to establish this, its inaugural scholarship program, in Dr. Findlay Walker’s name. To the University’s many graduates and American friends, please give generously to make this possible.
