Ever wondered what your granny’s got in common with an astronaut, or if your skeleton really is ‘bone-idle’? Postdoctoral researchers and PhD students from the University of Aberdeen’s Bone and Musculoskeletal Programme hold the answer to these, and many more, questions. See what makes bone strong, and find out what young and old can do to help preserve that strength as our crack team of bone experts take you and your family on a guided tour of the skeleton. With audience participation, dramatic demonstrations and amazing 3D images this show will bring bone to life in front of a family audience.

Hosted by the Glasgow Science Centre, “The Secret Life of the Skeleton” will herald the opening of the 37th European Symposium on Calcified Tissue meeting in the nearby SECC in Glasgow on the evening of Saturday the 26th of June.  This conference, organised by the European Calcified Tissue Society with local support from the Bone Research Society of the UK, brings together basic scientists and clinicians to discuss the latest developments in research and treatment of skeletal disorders.

“The Secret Life of the Skeleton” is a public engagement event funded by a Research Councils UK grant.
