Abstract: In the context of Ukraine’s industrial and transport recovery and the reduction of its human resource potential, national technical universities must ensure the preparation of specialists capable of promptly and competently addressing new complex production challenges, changing qualifications within the industry, and being prepared for self-education, self-improvement, and lifelong learning. Therefore, the further implementation of measures to strengthen the fundamental basis of professional and technical preparation of future specialists in university educational processes, grounded in the principles of the competence-based paradigm of education, acquires particular significance. The report presents an analysis of the results of the consistent implementation at Kharkiv National Automobile and Highway University of two Target Programs—improvement of physical-mathematical and fundamental preparation, as well as the Comprehensive Program for the fundamentalization of professional and technical preparation of future specialists (2009–2017). The fundamental basis of professional and technical preparation under the current conditions of Ukraine’s recovery is outlined.
