The recently established Centre for Images and Texts in Antiquity at the University of Aberdeen invites you to its inaugural event on the anthropology of images and of figuration on Thursday, 20 November 2025.

 

The event will feature Professor Philippe Descola (Collège de France),one of the leading anthropologists in the world today. He will introduce us to his work on visual culture and figuration at:

 

[1] the seminar ‘Forms of the Visible: Anthropology and Ontology’

(10:00-11:45 am, SDR Library, Floor 2, Room 224)

and

[2] the lecture ‘World-making: An Anthropology of Figuration’

(5:30-6:15 pm, SDR Library, Floor 7, Meeting Room 1)
