Through the Generations: Art History and its Disconformities

Wednesday 28 May

Lunch at 12.30pm for a 1.30pm start in CB009

This workshop aims to reassess the notion of "generations" and their relevance for systematizing and structuring the production and reception of modern and contemporary art. Through the Generationswill reappraise the relevance and operational power of generation as an analytical category. We will explore how the concept of “generations” allows renewed, structural reflections on career trajectories – for example mid-career moment – in their intersectional complexities and experiences.

Speakers include:

Dr Cecilia Brioni (University of Aberdeen); Nadja Rothenburger (PhD Candidate, University of Bern); Dr Barbara Barreiro Léon (University of Aberdeen); Brittany Jones (PhD Candidate, University of St Andrews); Dr Catriona McAra (University of Aberdeen); Dr Ann Reynolds (University of Texas).

A full programme is avaliable here Through_the_Generations_Programme.pdf

The event will be followed by a wine reception at 5pm.
