Wednesday 21st May 10am-6pm
Join us for a day of events exploring Experiential Learning in the Arts, Heritage, and Environmental Humanities here at the University of Aberdeen. There is a long-established tradition of Experiential Learning in the Performing Arts, Business and STEM subjects. However, this kind of Experiential Learning is less common and often thought to be more challenging to implement in the Humanities. Nonetheless, such an approach promises to deliver a variety of benefits to both students and staff informing timely discussions about inequality, climate change, and social justice.
A morning workshop in the Cruickshank Botanic Garden will be followed by a Lunchtime Soundwalk guided by Dr Sherry Lee, an Associate Professor of Musicology at the University of Toronto. Following which, we will hear from architectural historian and Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto, Dr Jessica Mace. This will be followed by a garden reception (marquees will ensure we remain dry!).
The afternoon seminar and garden reception are open to everyone. We hope to see you there!
