This document contains details of organisations who offer funding for medical-related summer research projects. Though these are often referred to as "laboratory" experience, they cover the full range of research, including data/literature searches, working with people (such as exercise or nutrition research) and pedagogical studies to enhance teaching.

Carnegie Education Fund - Masters funding for Scottish students in low income households
Carnegie Masters Grants support students living in low income households in Scotland to undertake a taught or research master's degree at a Scottish university.

British Federation of Women Graduates

British Pharmacological Society (BPS)
UK learned society concerned with research into drugs and the way they work. It covers the whole spectrum of pharmacology, including the laboratory, clinical and toxicological aspects. Studentships are available for vacation research projects.

Whitworth Scholarships
Awards for engineers who are planning to embark on, or have already commenced, an undergraduate engineering degree-level programme normally a MEng or for postgraduate Masters’ courses i.e. a MSc. Applicants must have served at least a 2 year engineering apprenticeship prior to commencing a degree-level course. These scholarships are valued at £4,000 p.a. for full-time study and £2,500 p.a. for part-time study. The Whitworth Scholarship Award will not exceed a total of £16,000 for any individual. The Whitworth Scholarship Award can be held in conjunction with other awards (except any other Whitworth Award).
