Athena SWAN Bronze Award for Law School

Athena SWAN Bronze Award for Law School

The University of Aberdeen's School of Law has been recognised for its commitment to progressing gender equality with the renewal of its Athena SWAN Bronze Award.

Advance HE’s Athena Swan Charter recognises commitment to the advancement of gender equality in academic, professional and support roles, through departments and institutions taking action to identify and overcome barriers to career progression for all.

The School’s successful application was led by Professor Anne-Michelle Slater, supported by Georgi Chichkov working closely with EDI Lead Dr Titi Adebola, Deputy EDI Lead Dr Francesca Farrington and Partner Clare Matysova.

The Athena Swan Bronze Award recognises that an institution or department has an evidence-based action plan and robust governance processes in place to progress gender equality and foster an inclusive environment.

Anne-Michelle said: “We are delighted to have achieved a renewal of our Athena Swan Bronze Award, first awarded to the Law School in 2017. It reflects our commitment to embedding EDI principles across the School and to creating an inclusive culture for all.

“The self-assessment process was instructive and we have a range of new initiatives in our action plan which we look forward to progressing in the months ahead.”
