Want to learn a new language or continue your language learning?

The University of Aberdeen Language Centre offers a wide range of foreign language evening classes from beginners to advanced. We also offer evening IELTS preparation and English language courses for non-native English.  The courses are open to University of Aberdeen staff, students and the general public.  

Please note evening classes are expected to begin again in January 2022. The January 2022 evening class schedule will be available to view and book at the beginning of November 2021.

Part-time evening language courses (open to all)

Our evening course programme in Modern Foreign Languages is designed for anyone interested in learning a new language or improving existing language skills. We also offer evening English language courses for non-native English. The courses are open to University of Aberdeen staff, students and the general public.

We offer courses for the following languages:

  • Arabic
  • French
  • German
  • Italian
  • Japanese
  • Portuguese
  • Russian
  • Spanish

Courses are for recreational purposes only and do not involve any form of assessment prior to the courses starting, during or after. 

Our courses run for 12 weeks starting in both September and January. They occur one evening per week for 2 hours. They are taught by native speakers.

September 2021 Courses

Please be advised our evening language classes scheduled for September 2021 are cancelled.   

January 2022 Courses

Evening language classes are expected to begin again in January 2022.  For our January 2022 evening classes please fill out this form to indicate which language course you are interested in attending
