Humanitarian Scholarship 2026-2027

Summary

The University of Aberdeen provides two humanitarian scholarships to support postgraduate Masters students impacted by armed conflict.

Description

Please note, this scholarship is only available for Aberdeen campus students.

The University of Aberdeen is keen to support talented students who have excelled in their studies, but whose educational journey has been interrupted by armed conflict. 2 postgraduate taught Masters scholarships will be available for entry in September 2026. These crisis-agnostic scholarships will provide the following support:

  • Full tuition fee waiver
  • Stipend for living costs in line with UKVI requirements (currently £10,539)
  • Free accommodation in University halls
  • Cover of visa application fee and IHS
  • Return flights (up to £1,000)
  • Hardship funding (up to £500)

Eligibility

To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Reside outside of the UK at the time of application
  • Hold international fee status
  • Must be eligible to apply for a UK Student visa (able to present valid travel documentation at selection)
  • Hold an offer for a full-time eligible postgraduate taught Masters programme
  • Demonstrate academic excellence (equivalent to UK First Class Honours) 
  • Have been affected by armed conflict or be at serious risk due to conflict (including internally displaced persons, or individuals facing direct threats to life/safety, imminent displacement, entrapment in conflict zones, or severe deprivation of essential needs)
  • Not already hold a qualification equal to or above the programme applied for
