Aberdeen Medics Scholarship Fund - Gateway 2 Medicine

The scholarship will support a student studying a medical degree (MBChB) who has gained access to their medical degree through the G2M programme.

Description

Aberdeen medical graduates and local doctors have been donating towards the Aberdeen Medics Scholarship Fund for the purpose of funding a scholarship to enable students from disadvantaged backgrounds to study Medicine at the University of Aberdeen.

The scholarship is valued at £4,000 per annum and will be offered to the recipient for the 5-year duration of the medical degree course.

Eligibility

To be awarded the scholarship, you must receive and then firmly accept an offer, either conditional or unconditional, of a place at the University of Aberdeen.

You must be due to commence your medical degree at the University of Aberdeen in September 2024.

Students must be currently registered on the Gateway 2 Medicine scheme to be eligible for this scholarship.

Criteria

The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of financial need through the Gateway 2 Medicine scheme.

Applicants must meet Widening Access characteristics.

Academic performance on the G2M programme and personal circumstances will also be taken into consideration.

To apply you must complete the application form and submit a 600 word Personal Statement by email to Nele Beutels on: nele.beutels@abdn.ac.uk

The personal statement should highlight any personal circumstances which could impact on your ability to study medicine. Please make sure to include your name, current Student ID number, home address and email address with your personal statement.

If you wish to be considered for both available Gateway to Medicine scholarships, you need only apply once and send one personal statement. If eligible, you will be considered for both of them, as well as our full range of entrance scholarships.
