Are you a University of Aberdeen student studying in any area of Pictish History or Culture? One prize of £500 is available for the 2025-26 academic year.
Description
This prize was established in memory of Findlay Harris Dick by his son. Findlay was a great lover of the North of Scotland and was born and brought up in Perth, which was a key part of the Pictish Kingdom.
Eligibility
It will be awarded to an outstanding project proposal which plans to undertake innovative research in Pictish Studies. The prize is available to any student enrolled at the University of Aberdeen, from Undergraduate to PhD in any area which involves the study of Pictish History or Culture.
Criteria
Appropriate applications may include the purchase of books; purchase or utilisation of technology, including new equipment, programmes and online projects; field trip costs; travel costs; and other research costs. Preference will be given to proposals which indicate an emphasis on innovation and original thought. Please include a breakdown of costs with justification in your application.
Application Procedure
Please email a summary of your project proposal and what you would use the prize for (ie. books, equipment; research costs). Please also include your CV which should include your University ID number. These documents should be no more than 2 pages of A4 each.
