Biography

I am a Consultant Health Psychologist with NHS Grampian. I manage services that provide psychological interventions to children, young people and adults with chronic, life-threatening, and life-limiting medical conditions and injuries. In 2016, I took on the role of Clinical Lead for Innovation. This role is focused on ensuring that the creative ideas of frontline staff are supported, and that we are welcoming to companies and individuals who want to test bed their inventions.

I was awarded a NRS Career Research Fellowship in 2013. I joined the BABCP register of accredited Behavioural & Cognitive Psychotherapists in 2005. I obtained my PhD from Aberdeen Medical School in 2001, after graduating with a BSc (Hons) Psychology in 1995 from the University of Aberdeen.

My research interests are focused on developing and evaluating psychological interventions that improve health outcomes, and reducing psychological distress where this serves as a barrier to better self-management.
