Highly Marine Protected Areas in English Waters
For our next informal seminar, Katy Barrett, a Senior Advisor for Natural England, will be giving an online informal seminar on "Natural England: Highly Marine Protected Areas in English Waters" next Friday 1st December at 1 pm. Please note that this talk will be on Teams only (see the link below to join).
Synopsis:
Natural England is an executive non-departmental public body, sponsored by the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs. We are the government’s adviser for the natural environment in England and we help to protect and restore our natural world. Natural England creates evidence products to influence policy and work towards achieving a well-managed Nature Recovery Network across land, water and sea. The first three pilot Highly Protected Marine Areas have been designated in English waters, including Allonby Bay HPMA, NW England, which is an inshore site within 12nm and Natural England’s jurisdiction. The HPMA pilot project will contribute towards the protection and recovery of our marine environment through the removal of marine activities and their associated pressures. Natural England will present about how we have contributed towards the pilot project to date, providing ecological advice to Government informing the identification and designation of HPMAs as well as the conservation advice package we have produced for Allonby Bay HPMA to inform management of the site.
We look forward to seeing you online!
