Pre-requisites

Normally SN 1001 and SN 1501 or permission of Head of School.

Overview

Written and spoken language.
Introduction to very basic cultural phenomena.
Reading passages.
Writing exercises.
Translation exercises.
Role play.
Dialogue.
Readings and discussions about Scandinavian culture.

Structure

3 one-hour language classes per week; 1 oral tutorial per week.

Assessment

1st Attempt: Course work: 4 in-class exercises equally weighted (60%); 1 two-hour Examination (40% = Oral 10%, written 30%).

Resit: 1 two-hour written examination (100%).

Formative Assessment

Four written assessments, in weeks 3, 6, 8 and 11.

Feedback

The above assessments are given CAS marks, and written or verbal feedback is also given.

Additional informal feedback on performance and workshop participation is also given.
