Dr Peidong Mei

Biography

Dr Mei received her PhD in Psychology at Lancaster University in 2021, where she explored children’s moral development in dynamic social interactions. Following her PhD, she worked as a Research Fellow at the University of Exeter and the Alan Turing Institute, investigating the social and ethical dimensions of AI in Air Traffic Control. She then became a Visiting Scholar at the University of Oxford, examining the moral permissibility of AI deployment across industries. In 2024, She joined the University of Aberdeen as a Lecturer.

Her research focuses on social cognition, primarily how people navigate social dynamics and particularly within the realm of human-AI interactions and their social, moral, educational, and cognitive implications. Some of her current projects include Public and expert perceptions of AI in industries; Generative AI in learning and social cultural shifts; and Human-AI relationships and boundaries in workplace.
