Biography

Ian Greener is Professor of Applied Social Sciences and Head of the School of Social Science. I have worked for several UK Universities, most recently before Aberdeen at Strathclyde and Durham, and before then Manchester and York.

My main research areas are in health and welfare systems (both in the UK, and how the UK compares to other countries), and I make use of a range of qualitative and quantitative methods in that work. I have a long-standing interest in how institutions and history affect policy and politics, and my fascination with video and computer games goes back to the 1980s.

I welcome applications from PhD students interested in any of the the areas above.
