Mr Christopher Robb

Biography

Christopher graduated from the university in 2010 with a BSc in Computing Science, specialising in software development, project management and web development.

He joined the university in 2011 on the Service Desk, resolving 1st line technical problems and data gathering for escalating calls. During his time there he managed a number of projects including:

• Replatforming the shared documentation onto a CMS system, allowing greater availability of the knowledge where and when it was required and easily updated.
• Developing and deploying the Self-Service call logging and tracking system "MyIT"
• Transferring our incident tracking software from legacy servers onto new virtuals, along with separate disaster recovery and development environments.

Late 2013 Christopher successfully interviewed for a job in the Server Infrastructure division within IT Services. This involved maintaining existing server hardware and software, and bringing new servers into the production environment.

• He also implemented a password management solution for administrator passwords
• Implemented a managed antivirus services across the Linux server estate
• Managed our Security information and event management (SIEM) solution.
• Implemented a solution for student identity and access management, replacing the existing account provisioning system in the legacy eRegistration process with one based on the Microsoft Identity Manager product and PowerShell scripting.
• Worked towards professional Cyber Security accreditation (CISSP).

In 2022, Christopher became Technical Lead for the Digital Research team. The main focus is providing IT solutions for researchers and students across the university community. He is the primary contact for our High Performance Computing (HPC) cluster, as well as designing and project managing infrastructure upgrades and horizon-scanning for new technologies.
