Biography
Alex has long been fascinated by the psychological factors that influence our motivation, business decisions and learning. Having spent most of his life overseas, including 13 years in China, he is equally interested in the impact of cultural differences on business and communications. Alex’s current research looks to apply game gamification to innovation training, with the goal of better understanding the link between the use of game elements, student engagement and learning outcomes.
From 2018-2021, Alex held the role of Accreditation Manager at XJTLU International Business School Suzhou. In this role he led the school’s successful EQUIS and AACSB reaccreditation, as well as its initial AMBA/BGA accreditation. He also served as a driving force behind efforts to be more ethical and sustainable at the business school, with his work supporting the school’s eventual selection as a UN PRME Champion.
As an entrepreneur in China, Alex designed and facilitated innovation, communications, and soft skills training sessions for undergraduate, postgraduate students, as well as corporate clients. He also provided marketing and management consulting services for well known international companies such as Glanbia and ADM. In addition to his entrepreneurial pursuits, Alex possesses 10 years of international experience spanning the pharmaceutical, F&B, import/export sectors and manufacturing. His roles have largely been marketing and communications related, ranging from Communications Executive to PR and Branding Manager.
