February Environmental Arts and Humanities Network Reading Group
-
We are excited to launch the Aberdeen Environmental Arts and Humanities Network Reading Group.
The inaugural meeting will take place on Wednesday, 25th February, from 3-4pm, in the Interdisciplinary Lounge, Crombie Halls.
For our first session, we will discuss texts on the theme of impact: ways in which the environmental arts, humanities, and social sciences can become ‘consequential in the age of consequences’, as Noel Castree (2021) puts it.
Texts include:
- Castree, Noel. 2021. “Making the Environmental Humanities Consequential in ‘The Age of Consequences’.” Environmental Humanities 13 (2): 433–458. https://doi.org/10.1215/22011919-9320233.
- Pörtner, H.O., R.J. Scholes, J. Agard, E. Archer, A. Arneth, X. Bai, D. Barnes, et al. 2021. IPBES–IPCC Co-Sponsored Workshop Report on Biodiversity and Climate Change. IPBES and IPCC. https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.4782538. Have a look at the synopsis, particularly paragraphs 30–34 and 38–41 (pp. 21–23).

Please email Ines Kirschner for PDFs of the readings and further information. All are welcome to join. Please note that this will be an in-person event.
