"Ink, Poetry, and Being" is a virtual exhibition where Chinese poetry finds form in calligraphy.
"Ink, Poetry, and Being" began as a curatorial project for the course "Public Engagement for the Arts" at the University in 2023 and was revised in September 2025. The online exhibition explores the relationship between text, writing, and existence in virtual space.
The exhibition selects ancient Chinese poetry through two dimensions: “Under The Sun” and “The Self”. “Under The Sun” examines power transitions and historical cycles in collective memory, reflecting on individual fate within grand narratives. “The Self” turns inward, focusing on emotion, desire, loss, and transcendence—those eternal themes that define human existence. These poems are presented through calligraphy. In Chinese culture, calligraphy carries meaning beyond written record, as it manifests individual spirit and emotion.
The exhibition contains fourteen calligraphy works I created, each accompanied by personal annotations. Each piece records a dialogue between creator and text, tradition and the present. Through the Artsteps platform, calligraphy, literature, and technology converge in a virtual space. The exhibition transcends temporal and geographic boundaries and invites viewers to engage with poetry and calligraphy.
