On the 9th – 10th June the Consulate General of Ireland, the Research Institute for Irish and Scottish Studies at the University of Aberdeen and Údarás na Gaeltachta will host a symposium at the University of Aberdeen bringing together policy makers, statutory and non-departmental public bodies, academics, industry and civil society organisations from across Ireland and Scotland to discuss current actions and challenges around empowering Gaelic and Irish speaking communities.
Over the course of the two days, there will be dedicated sessions examining language policy, economic development and support, the impact and importance of culture and broadcasting and the role of dispersed or city-based speaker communities in language revitalisation.
