Como anclas, proporcionan protección y estabilidad. En busca de nutrientes y agua, se desarrollan según el entorno: fibrosas, pivotantes, acuáticas, gambas, contráctiles, aéreas. Pueden formar interconexiones entre las plantas, pero, en el último cuadro de Van Gogh (1890), Raíces de Árboles, es imposible distinguir si la pintura representa personas o raíces. Así como los hongos tienen una relación simbiótica con las raíces de las plantas, los humanos también desempeñan un papel. La noción de raíces nos dice quiénes somos y cómo nos conectamos con nuestra tierra. En esta sección, las raíces representan a un grupo de guardianes de las plantas: las/os curanderas/os mexicanas/os.
As anchors, they provide protection and stability. In search of nutrients and water, they develop according to the environment: fibrous, tap, aquatic, buttress, contractile, aerial. They can form interconnections among plants, but in Van Gough’s (1890) last painting, Tree Roots, is impossible to distinguish whether the painting depicts people or roots. As much as fungi have a symbiotic relationship with the plant roots, humans also play a role. The notion of roots tells us who we are and how we connect with our land.
