Dear IF Cytometry Centre (NEW) Users-To-Be,

We are pleased to announce a monthly (4th Monday of the month) training: Basic Theoretical Approach in Flow Cytometry Instrumentation (Training Part I). This is a pre-requisite to have the “On Hands Flow Cytometer Training” (Training Part II) and be able to become a self-user of BD Fortessa and/or ThermoFisher Attune NxT.

*This session is intended to be taken for any new user-to-be running FC experiments in ≤ 2 months of the date of the Part I session (meaning, Part 2 should be scheduled no more than two months after Part I).

What: Basic Theoretical Approach in FC Instrumentation (training Part I)

Where: FH-IMS-Level 5 Conf Rm

Date: Monday, 26-July-2026

Time: From 9:00 am to 12:00 pm

Audience: IFCC-new users-to-be

Sign in: Basic-Inst-Training (Part I) | IFCC _GEN | Microsoft Teams > Excel file “IFCC-Inst_session_training_calendar_(1)

In these 3 hours session we will cover:

-Fluidic system:

  • Laminar vs turbulent flows: consequences in data acquisition
  • Hydrodynamic focusing/Acoustic focusing
  • Flow rate, core stream size and consequences in data acquisition

-Optical system:

  • Forward and Side Scatter
  • Photodetectors: adjusting voltages/gains
  • Filters: beam splitters (LP and SP) and bandpass
  • Parameters of the pulse and how to use them
  • Forward Area Scaling Factor

-Electronic system:

  • Amplifiers
  • Signal conversion in digital FC
  • Threshold and its consequences in data acquisition
  • Laser delay

Please, spread the word to anyone who might be interested in taking this training.

Thank you,
