Related Information

This appears to be a Duff or MacDuff crest and motto, I am not sure what it is doing on a railway bridge perhaps it was removed from an earlier structure, or the bridge itself may have been originally constructed by the Duffs of Fetteresso. Various early railway companies also seem to have made much use of armorial devices without entitlement. Work on the line between Aberdeen and Brechin started in 1845. The track to Stonehaven, from the South, was completed by September 1849. Presumably the crest was done before then.
