Description

A highly decorative late-Victorian footbridge. Single span, shallow segmental-arched, cast-iron footbridge over Carron Water. Cast in 3 sections with dated makers plaque to centre of riveted girder, wrought-iron quatrefoil parapet, cast-iron standards with wrought-iron arch at centre, and pyramidally-coped, stop-chamfered ashlar terminal piers.
Made by Blaikie Brothers - Engineer was G.S. Hird.

Related Information

This bridge is placed at a traditional crossing point on the Carron River; where the river bed rises. This highly decorative late-Victorian footbridge replaced an earlier timber bridge, and itself had a plank floor until 1892, when it was replaced with concrete. Listed building report
White Bridge spans the parish boundary line between Fetteresso to the North and Dunnottar to the South.
