Biography: Son of James Combe; born Skene, 8 July 1877. M.A. (II CIass), 1899. Seconded from Consular Service, China, to serve with Chinese Labour Corps; Captain, 28 June 1917. Served- France, C.L.C. (2300 Chinese), July 1917-December 1918. Final rank, Captain. Received thanks of Army Council.
