Neilson, Charles

Biography: Son of James Neilson, postmaster, Ellon ; born Montrose, 27 November 1889. While a student in Arts, he showed much promise, and graduated M.A. in 1913. With a view to entering the teaching profession, he took a course of training at the Aberdeen Training Centre, and was a teacher at Lossiemouth when war broke out. He enlisted as a Private at Peterhead in September 1914, and after training at home went overseas. Neilson took his share in the strenuous fighting of the early days of the war and was killed in action at Neuville-St.-Vaast, France, 1 June 1916.

Burial Details: Buried at Maroeuil British Cemetery, Plot 1, Row F., Grave 6.
