Biography: Son of A. S. R. Bruce; born Aberdeen, 24 October 1897. M.A., 1921. Edinburgh University O.T.C. Enlisted, St. John's Wood Cadet School, November 1916; commissioned, Royal Garrison Artillery, 3 February 1917. Served— Home, 1916-17, 1918-19; France, May 1917-September 1918. Final rank, Lieutenant.
