Biography: Son of James Bowman; born Aberlour, 4 October 1883. M.A., 1903; B.D., 1910. Private, Nyasaland Volunteer Reserve, October 1917; commissioned, Nyasaland Field Force, January 1918. Served - Nyasaland, Portuguese East Africa, German East Africa, 18 months. Final rank, Lieutenant.
