Biography: Son of Robert H. Balnaves; born Brechin, 29 April 1897. Medicine, 1918- . Private, 4th Gordon Highlanders, 31 March 1915; commissioned, 17 January 1916. Served - Home, 1915-16; France, September-November 1916. Final rank, Lieutenant.
