Simpson, John Milne

Biography: Son of Robert and Grace Ann Simpson; born Montrose, 1921 ; educated at Montrose Academy. He entered the University in 1939 to take an Honours course in Classics, and distinguished himself both in his studies and in athletics. In 1941 he joined the Royal Air Force, and after training became a member of a long-range fighting squadron. He had numerous encounters with the enemy, many of them over the Bay of Biscay. In June 1944 he was reported missing, and was presumed to have lost his life in action at that time.
