McGregor, Charles Alexander

Biography: Son of Alexander and Helen Isabella McGregor, Rosebery Street, Aberdeen ; born Aberdeen, 1914 ; educated at Robert Gordon's College. At the University he distinguished himself in sport as well as in study, and in 1935 graduated M.A. with Honours in Classics, later taking the degree of Ed.B. also with Honours. He was appointed to the staff of Dundee High School. At the beginning of the war he was mobilized as a Territorial Officer and attached to the 5th Black Watch. He saw a good deal of service in North Africa and took part in the Battle of El Alamein. He was killed in action at the opening of the Eighth Army's offensive in November 1942.
