Biography: Son of Alexander Asher; born Elgin, 25 August 1893. M.A., 1919. Private, U Company, 4th Gordon Highlanders, November 1912. Commissioned, Highland Light Infantry, September 1917. Served - Home, 1914-15; France, February 1915-September 1916. Final rank, Lieutenant.
