Dingwall, Ronald Grant

Biography: Son of the late William Dingwall, tea planter, Dooars, India ; born India 20 August 1903 ; educated at Aberdeen Grammar School. On graduating M.B., Ch.B. in 1927, he joined the Medical Service of the Royal Navy and for a time served on the flagship in the Far East. On completion of a short-term commission he took up practice in Kent. Recalled to the service at the outbreak of war, he took part in several naval operations including the battle of Cape Matapan. Not long after being gazetted O.B.E., he was killed in May 1941 when his ship, H.M.S. Gloucester, was lost in operations off Crete.
