Biography: Son of James Mitchell; born Aberdeen, 25 March 1896. B.Com., 1920. Private, 4th Gordon Highlanders, 1913. Mobilized, August 1914. Transferred 101st and 34th Battalion Machine Gun Corps; commissioned, 21 October 1915. Served-Home, 1914-15, 1915-16,1919; France, Belgium, February-October 1915, July 1916-January 1919; Germany, January-August 1919. Final rank, Major. Croix de Guerre avec Palme (Belgian), January 1919.
