Biography: Son of Peter Mitchell; born Inveraven, Banffshire, 3 August 1864. M.B., 1894; M.D., 1898. Surgeon-Lieutenant, 5th Volunteer Battalion. Gordon Highlanders, 1898. Transferred Aberdeen Company. R.A.M.C. (Voluntary), later T.F. Mobilized Lieutenant-Colonel, 4 August 1914. Officer in Command, 1st Scottish General Hospital, 1914-16; Officer in Command, 43rd Gen. Hospital, Salonika, 1916-18. Final rank, Lieutenant-Colonel. T.D., 1918. Mentioned in despatches, 1918.
